Our Story

CalFoods Logistics (CFL) is dedicated to feeding Californians by bridging the gap with our food bank partners by distributing supplemental nutrition for those in need. Our team has decades of expertise in food banking and building community partnerships.

We are proud to partner with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) as the intermediary for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), providing United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) food commodities to 48 food banks in Northern and Southern California. Our food bank partners distribute these commodities to eligible individuals and households within 58 counties.

A Closer Look at Hunger

Did you know that food banks are critical to communities all over the United States? Food banks serve diverse geographical areas, ranging from rural food banks that work with local partners to serve remote, isolated communities to large urban food banks with hundreds of partners that serve many neighborhoods.

In California, 4,104,060 people are facing hunger – and of them 1,182,720 are children! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of July 2022, there are 39,029,342 people in the Golden State. So, 10.51% of Californians are struggling with daily food insecurity.

Our Impact

In addition to our core business, CalFoods Logistics has supported other efforts to fight hunger and community support with CDSS. We assisted food banks by providing approximately 506 truckloads of food and diapers with $50 million of Coronavirus Relief Funds provided by the State.

That equates to 17 million pounds of products between November 2020 and March 2021, resulting in shelf-stable food and diapers for Californians. CFL is passionate about serving California food banks and their community members.
